After falling to the University of Rhode Island Tuesday night, the women's basketball team (1-5) had its first win of the season over the University of Maine Friday night to secure the opening game of the Dead River Company Classic. Despite falling to West Virginia University Saturday afternoon in the championship game, the tournament was a success for the Bears, as Courtney Lee '10 and Sadiea Williams '11 were named to the all-tournament team.
The Bears were overmatched against the Rams Tuesday at the Pizzitola Center, losing 75-59. URI raced out to a 37-20 halftime lead and never looked back. Natalie Bonds '10 posted a game-high 20 points and nine rebounds, Karly Grace '11 added 15 points and Hannah Passafuime '12 tacked on nine points, two rebounds and two assists.
