Poll: Most students opposed to use of race in admissions

Just more than 58 percent of students oppose the University’s consideration of race in student admissions decisions, while over 34 percent of students said they supported the policy, according to a recent Herald poll. Of the students who are opposed to the consideration of race, more than half support the consideration of an applicant’s socioeconomic status.

Though polls predicted a close race, Rep. David Cicilline ’83, D-R.I., defeated Republican challenger  Brendan Doherty by more than 12 points.
