2 grapplers qualify for nationals

The wrestling team concluded its season at the Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association Tournament held at East Stroudsburg University in Pennsylvania this past weekend. Three Brown wrestlers placed – Mark Savino ’08 finished sixth at 141 pounds, Shawn Kitchner ’07 finished fourth at 165 pounds and Levon Mock ’08 finished fourth at 285 pounds.

Grapplers top Wagner, Columbia, Delaware State, fall to Big Red

The wrestling team finished its dual season on a high note after taking three of four matches at the Pizzitola Center over the long weekend. On Friday, the team faced off against Wagner University and Columbia. After Brown blanked Wagner 46-0, it secured the maximum 12 points over the final two matches to stun the Lions, 21-20 in the second match.

Wrestling falls to Harvard and BU, beats Franklin & Marshall

Saturdays are a day of relaxation for the average college student, but that was far from reality for the wrestling team last weekend. The Bears first traveled to Cambridge to wrestle Harvard and Franklin and Marshall College in a dual meet. The team lost to Harvard 27-15 but bounced back to beat the Diplomats 28-10.

Grapplers pound Princeton 47-0, fall to Penn and Drexel on road swing

The wrestling team faced Ivy League opponents for the first time this season over the weekend and emerged with mixed decisions. On Friday, the Bears suffered a 33-4 loss to No. 14 University of Pennsylvania, then lost 22-14 to non-conference opponent Drexel University the same day.

Grapplers can’t hold on in losses to No. 24 Lehigh, Army

The wrestling team came up just short against a back-to-back helping of some stiff competition this weekend. Brown lost to No. 24 Lehigh University 30-15 on Saturday and suffered a 23-10 defeat at the hands of the United States Military Academy on Sunday. The setbacks leave the Bears’ record at 1-7 overall and 1-4 in the Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association. Brown has been competitive in the six matches since the Lone Star Duals at the beginning of the month, but the team has a 1-5 record to show for its effort.
