Mei Li Costa ’22 took home the national bars title at the 2019 USA Gymnastics Women’s Collegiate National Championships Sunday, earning a winning score of 9.8500 in the finals after tying Brown’s all-time bars record with a score of 9.900 in preliminaries.

Bruno dropped two games and won one game in its series against Dartmouth this weekend. The Bears next face Ivy League leader Columbia in a road series.

The baseball team dropped its weekend series to Dartmouth, dominating game two 13-6 but coming up empty in close losses in games one and three.

The new soccer and lacrosse complex will include a tunnel for players to go directly from the locker rooms to Stevenson-Pincince Field.

The University announced plans to build an expansive new soccer and lacrosse complex around Stevenson-Pincince Field, which is scheduled to open spring 2020 and will be completed by the 2020-21 school year.

The Bears did not score a run until the final inning of a three-game series against Princeton. The team will face off against Yale in another home series this weekend.

The softball team dropped each of its three games against Princeton this weekend, as the Bears could not overcome the Tigers’ stout pitching and defense.

Butterbrodt (left) was the 26th seed of the 33 wrestlers in his weight class, but came within one match of attaining All-American status.


Men’s wrestling takes four wins at NCAA Tournament

After a strong conference tournament run, the wrestling team looked to parlay their momentum into the NCAA Wrestling Tournament in Pittsburgh March 21-23.

The Bears went 2-2 in the team’s opening series against Fairfield University this weekend. Bruno looks ahead to a three-game matchup against Yale at home on March 23 and 24.

The baseball team split its first home series of the year, winning games one and four of its home opener over Fairfield University, but dropping both contests of a Saturday doubleheader.

Madi Cranford ’21 collected seven hits and four RBI during Brown’s undefeated weekend. Bruno next takes the plate at the University of South Florida Invitational against Colgate University.

Catcher Madi Cranford ’21 has kicked off her sophomore softball season with a bang, going 14-18 at the plate in Brown’s first seven games. This past week, she led the Bears to a perfect 3-0 record at the North Carolina A&T Aggie Invitational, racking up seven hits and four RBI in the tournament.

Desmond Cambridge ’21 carries the ball up the court in a win against Princeton Friday. The Bears fell to Penn the next day, eliminating them from the conference race. Harvard, Yale, Princeton and Penn advance to the 2019 Ivy League Tournament.

The men’s basketball team edged Princeton Friday but fell in a winner-take-all showdown against Penn Saturday, eliminating the Bears from the conference race and sending the Quakers to the Ivy League Tournament. Brown battled Penn in a tightly contested game, but Bruno’s 22 turnovers doomed the team in a 58-51 loss.

Joshua Howard ’20 drives to the hoop for a lay-up against Columbia Friday. After losing to the Lions, the Bears rebounded against Cornell Saturday with Howard posting 16 points.
