As the University's physical campus expands at a rapid pace, the plans for new buildings are energy efficient but do not necessarily meet the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design standards set by the U.S. Green Building Council.

As RecycleMania ends, Brown ranks No. 49

The seventh annual RecycleMania competition drew to a close Saturday, and for the third consecutive year, Brown fell in the middle of the pack. A week before the competition ended, the University stood at 49th out of 77 colleges in the top category.

Some R.I. legislators oppose troop surge

Though there is no sign from the White House as to when the war in Iraq might end, some Rhode Island state legislators are calling for a halt to the escalation of the fighting as President Bush's plan to send more U.S. troops to Baghdad and the restless Anbar province moves forward.
