Brown has a significant place in baseball history, holding the fourth oldest written record of the game: an 1827 diary entry by Williams Latham 1827, a Brown student at the time, according to Rick Harris,  author of “Brown University Baseball: A Legacy of the Game.” When baseball started at Brown, it was played where the Main Green is today, he said.

It was a rough weekend in the Big Easy for the baseball team, as the winless Bears (0-7) were swept in a three-game away series against Tulane (14-6). The first game was the closest of the weekend as the Green Wave prevailed in the bottom of the ninth, but Bruno was outscored 34-8 in lopsided defeats in the final two games of the series.

The baseball team’s season got off to a rough start this weekend as the Bears were swept in a three-game away series against the Florida International Panthers. Despite the losses, co-captain and shortstop Graham Tyler ’12 and co-captain and pitcher Kevin Carlow ’13 said they are pleased with how the team played.
