Mulligan ’19: University should increase transparency on its punitive decisions

As a domestic student and a very infrequent party-goer, I neither knew nor cared all that much about Buxton International House. I recognized it only from the flags that hung from its windows, showing off the home countries of its residents.

Affected students were originally given 72 hours to move out of Buxton after returning to campus this spring, but now have a more flexible timeline.

The University has suspended the housing privileges of Buxton International House until fall 2020 after finding the program house had “again violated the student code of conduct while on deferred suspension from a previous violation,” wrote President Christina Paxson P’19 in a Jan. 18 letter.
