Brown/RISD poetry slam team earns 5th place in annual competition

Last weekend, Brown and the Rhode Island School of Design’s joint poetry slam team sent members Kris Cho ’22, Blessed Sheriff ’19, Dāa Guy RISD ’19 and Manuel Ávalos ’19 to take part in the College Unions Poetry Slam Invitation, an annual collegiate poetry slam tournament.

The three winning teams received prize money and won a trip to New York City to meet with investors and alums.

Brown Venture Prize awards $50,000 to student start-ups

With a $25,000 prize on the line and a sold-out crowd of over 250 people, eight teams of young entrepreneurs took the stage last Wednesday for the second Brown Venture Prize Pitch Night, presenting their startup ideas and vying for the favor of seven alumni judges.
