The men’s fall golf season culminated in impressive fashion this weekend with victories over Harvard and Yale en route to a third-place finish in the Ivy League Match Play Championship hosted by Princeton.
The men’s golf team trudged through the challenging MacDonald’s Cup this past weekend, finishing 13th out of a field of 15 teams with a team score of 591 – 292 on Saturday and 299 on Sunday - on the par-70 Yale Golf Course.
The Brown women’s golf team has not missed a beat since completing a successful season last year, carrying its momentum into the first tournament of the season. This past weekend, the team placed third overall in a field of Ivy League and regional competitors at the Dartmouth Invitational at Hanover Country Club.
After a disappointing last-place ranking at the Ivy League Championship in April, the Brown men’s golf team opened the 2012-2013 season with a fifth-place finish at the Navy Fall Classic at the U.S. Naval Academy Golf Club in Annapolis, Md., this past weekend.
The men’s golf team fell flat last weekend at the Princeton Invitational hosted at the par-71 Springfield Golf Club. The team shot a 54-hole 905, putting them in 11th place in a field of 14, which was led by Yale’s 858. It was a step backwards for the Bears after an impressive showing in their previous outing at the Yale Invitational, where Bruno finished only five strokes back of the Elis.
The track and field teams had a busy weekend as they split forces to compete at three different meets across the country. Traveling the farthest were nine distance runners who competed Friday evening at the Stanford Invite in Palo Alto, Calif. Dan Lowry ’12, Olivia Mickle ’13 and Heidi Caldwell ’14 set school records in their respective events as they competed against some of the top collegiate distance runners in the country.
