Golf teams teed up for spring season after five-month break

Even though the men’s and women’s golf teams play the same sport, they still somehow find a way to be polar opposites. Both squads resume their seasons in the upcoming weeks after a five-month furlough between their spring and fall campaigns, but they will be looking at them very differently.

The women’s golf team concluded its fall season on Monday, earning second place in the Sacred Heart Invitational. Bruno, with a two-day score of 643 (330, 313) placed behind only Yale (623) in the ten-team field.

Competing for the first time in two weeks, the women’s golf team finished in a tie for ninth place in the 14-team Roar-ee Invitational this Friday and Saturday. The event, hosted by Columbia, took place at Spook Rock Golf Course in Mamaroneck, N.Y., located outside of New York City.

After a difficult showing at the New England Championship, the men’s golf team sought to rebound at the Yale Invitational this weekend. But the Bears’ plans were derailed by strong winds which Head Coach Michael Hughes said hit an inexperienced Brown team especially hard.

M. golf takes 9th in division play

The men’s golf team finished ninth out of 12 teams in the New England Division I Championship at Triggs Memorial Golf Club in Providence over the weekend. Connecticut won the event easily with a final team score of 586. Despite a stronger showing on Sunday, the Bears finished the event with a disappointing score of 624.
