On April 1, The Herald reported that the University suspended its terminal master’s in history. That program had offered a year-long opportunity to earn a master’s degree for students not previously enrolled at the University; now, outside applicants cannot receive a standalone master’s in history degree from Brown.

The University will no longer offer terminal master’s degrees in history beginning in the 2019-20 school year.

Sharpe House was moved from Angell St. to Brown St. to make way for a new planned Performing Arts Center. The University plans to connect the structure with Peter Green House in an effort to unify the History Department.

The University announced the beginning of a renovation to the Department of History’s facilities that will connect the department’s two buildings, Sharpe House and Peter Green House.
