Marchin ’19 hat trick fuels Bears to 5-4 comeback victory over RPI

Following a 10-day hiatus over the Thanksgiving break, the men’s hockey team earned its first overtime victory of the season with a 5-4 comeback win over.

Gavin Nieto ’20 stopped 47 shots in his first career shutout at Princeton Saturday. Nieto exceeded the 40-save mark for the second time this season following a 44-save effort in the season opener at Yale Oct. 27. The Bears host Holy Cross in a non-conference matchup at Meehan Auditorium Tuesday.

Following a victory over St. Lawrence last week, the men’s hockey team earned its first shutout of the season with a 3-0 win against Ivy rival Princeton.

Following Saturday’s victory over St. Lawrence, the Bears will continue conference play with visits to No. 16 Quinnipiac and Princeton.

Following a pair of losses to Dartmouth and No. 3 Harvard, the men’s hockey team prevailed over St. Lawrence for the first time since 2014 in a 3-1 victory.

After finishing last in the Eastern College Athletic Conference in the 2016-2017 season, the men’s hockey team will start fresh with eight new players at a home-and-home series against Yale this weekend. The Bears will travel to New Haven to face the Bulldogs Friday before returning to Meehan Auditorium Saturday. Bruno will take the ice at 7 p.m. both nights.

The men’s hockey team continued ECAC play with a pair of away contests this weekend, falling to Colgate University Saturday and No. 12 Cornell Sunday.

Veteran forward Tyler Bird ’18 handles the puck in the opposing third. After a 3-3 tie against Princeton Saturday, Bruno has just six games remaining in the regular season and will face Colgate Friday at 7 p.m.
