The 19th-ranked men’s water polo team finished first in tournament play at the Collegiate Water Polo Association North-South Challenge this weekend, triumphing over No. 20 St. Francis University 9-8 in the championship match.


Water polo goes 3-2 at men’s invitational

The men’s water polo team (10-2) won three of five matches at the Princeton Invitational this weekend. The Bears won 21-4 against California Lutheran University (1-3), 12-6 against Bucknell University (4-3) and 11-3 against George Washington University (4-4). Bruno fell 9-8 to Johns Hopkins University and 14-8 to the undefeated University of California at Los Angeles (7-0). 


Bears start season strong in home pool

The men’s water polo team christened the new Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center during last weekend’s Brown Labor Day Weekend Tournament, finishing undefeated in seven matches.

The new pool is 56 meters long and nine meters deep, and it holds one million gallons of water.

The No. 17 men’s water polo team has had two exhilarating weekends, beginning its postseason play with positive results. The team won the Ivy League Championships Oct. 29 and 30 at Harvard and finished second in an agonizing defeat to No. 20 St. Francis College in the finals of the Northern Division Championships Nov. 5 and 6 at MIT.

Bears pick up steam with convincing wins over Rams, Lakers

The men’s water polo team dominated Fordham and Mercyhurst last Saturday at Harvard, winning 18-7 and 12-6, respectively. Center Svetozar Stefanovic ’13 led the way in both games. He tallied seven goals, six steals and two assists against Fordham and managed six goals, five ejections drawn, a steal and a save in the Mercyhurst game.

The third time was anything but the charm for the men’s water polo team (18-11), which dropped its third game this season against No. 14 St. Francis College (21-3), 14-7, on Sunday in the Collegiate Water Polo Association Northern Division Championship. The loss followed a 12-6 win over Iona College (6-19) and a 9-6 victory over the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (12-10), who hosted the tournament.
