Bruno goes winless in West Coast matchups

It wasn’t exactly a dream vacation. The No. 20 men’s water polo team (14-9) dropped all five of its games at the Santa Clara Rodeo Invitational last weekend. Bruno lost to No. 15 California Baptist University (24-5) 9-3, No. 11 University of California at Davis (15-7) 9-6, Air Force (9-13) 11-10, No. 13 Santa Clara University (17-9) 16-9, and No. 7 University of the Pacific (12-6) 16-9.

For the second weekend in a row, the No. 19 Bears (10-4) fell to division leader No. 13 St. Francis (12-0) on the final day of a weekend invitational. Bruno beat both Connecticut College (0-3), 19-2, who hosted the tournament, and Queens College (5-6), 10-9. On Sunday, St. Francis handled the Bears, 14-9.

The men’s water polo team still has plenty more games to play, but it is confident following two wins at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Invitational on Saturday. Led by Svetozar Stefanovic ’13, who returns after a standout freshman year, the Bears (2-0) handed Cal Lutheran (0-4) an 11-6 defeat and beat the Boston Metro Elite club team 11-7.

Glick ’10 brings power plays to pool

Women’s water polo tri-captain Sarah Glick ’10 may only be 5 feet 4 inches tall, but she’s been a huge part of the team in her time at Brown. Glick ranks as the all-time leader in points in a season and a career at Brown, as her 82 goals and 72 assists this season have raised her career totals to 282 goals and 257 assists. This past week, she scored nine goals, including five in her last home game, a 14-10 victory over Harvard.

W. water polo clinches spot at Easterns

After an overtime loss to No. 11 Hartwick on Saturday, the women’s water polo team bounced back to beat Harvard, 14-10, at home on Sunday. With the victory over Harvard — who had beaten Brown just the week before — the Bears clinched an automatic berth to the Eastern Championship.
