Watson panel extols virtues of marriage

Professor of Economics Glenn Loury and Professor W. Brad Wilcox, a sociology professor at the University of Virginia, engaged in a discussion titled “Perspectives on Family Structure, Marriage, and Inequality” last night.

Constance Wu, Henry Golding and Gemma Chan (left to right, above) starred in the film “Crazy Rich Asians,” which was the subject of a University panel last week. Professors and graduate students discussed how wealth, class and ethnicity were depicted in  the film, a romantic comedy that has sparked discussion since its release.

he film “Crazy Rich Asians” has sparked discussions since its release. In efforts to create a space for open dialogue on how the film impacts and portrays both Asian American and wider Asian communities, student groups held a panel and critical discussion forum last Thursday in List Auditorium.

Alan Pelaez Lopez, Rommy Torrico, Soultree and Felipe Baeza spoke about art’s role in immigration activism and the intersection of queerness and immigration status.
