Acclaimed poet, essayist and scholar Claudia Rankine conveyed the multi-faceted cultural conception of race — equal parts abstract and material — during an Oct. 2 lecture at the University.

Cecilia Vicuña's work involves subjects from the women's rights movement in Chile to the ecologically destructive consequences of microplastics. One of her most well-known pieces consists of a series of installations addressing indigenous histories through imagery of quipus, an ancient Incan form of communication using knotted wool.

Tan Lin shares poetry, film in Literary Arts event

Poet and filmmaker Tan Lin presented selections of his work in the McCormack Family Theater Tuesday night. Though the event was labeled as a poetry reading by the Literary Arts Department, much of the hour was spent watching films that Lin had made, which presented his poems as pieces to be both read and watched.

In her lecture last Wednesday, Stewart commented on interrelated themes in Wright’s works, which include childbirth, maternity and knowledge.
