President Christina Paxson P’19 has been telling Rhode Islanders for weeks now that she wants the University to team up with Prospect Medical Holdings, Inc., a California-based for-profit, to acquire Care New England, a non-profit and the second largest health care system in Rhode Island.

The Corporation, the University’s highest governing body, granted President Paxson P’19 a second five-year term Thursday, extending her tenure to 2021.

The financial plan aims to reconcile the University’s finances with the Building on Distinction strategic plan, the Operational Plan and the BrownTogether campaign.
