Stagnant offense gets softball swept

The softball team has outperformed expectations this season and played better than its record indicates, but it seems the team simply cannot catch a break.

Catcher Julia Schoenewald ’17 has been one of Bruno’s primary sources of offense this year. The co-captain is batting .500 and has hit two home runs. She will look to continue her success Wednesday against Hartford.

The softball team started the season off with a bang, winning four of five games at the Winthrop Invitational last weekend.

Yeram Park ’18 puts the ball in play. The sophomore launched a three-run homer against Wagner over the weekend, providing her team’s only runs in a 3-2 victory. The win was part of a promising 4-1 start for the Bears.

Last year, the softball team was 2-3 and had already allowed 28 runs. But this year already feels different, said co-captain Julia Schoenewald ’17.
