SUGSE updates GSC on unionization election dates

The Graduate Student Council received updates on unionization and re-elected President Alastair Tulloch GS and Vice President of Advocacy D’Ondre Swails GS at its third general body meeting of the semester. The council also filled all other board positions and listened to grievance procedure revisions.

University graduate students planning to vote on unionization follow in the footsteps of Georgetown University graduate students, who will vote on unionization Nov. 5 to 8.

Over the past few years, graduate students at the University, like graduate students at many other universities, have been organizing to form a union.

An election on graduate student unionization will be held within 15 business days of the filing. SUGSE and AFT believe a majority of eligible graduate students will support unionization.

SUGSE, AFT to file election petition

Stand Up for Graduate Student Employees and the American Federation of Teachers notified the University of their intention to file an election petition for graduate student unionization, according to an Oct. 11 AFT press release.

Executive Director of Health and Wellness Vanessa Britto addressed the Brown University Community Council on Tuesday. The meeting covered topics including progress on the proposed health and wellness dorm at 450 Brook St.
