The men’s and women’s fencing team had only one chance to compete at home this season, and the Bears made it count with impressive victories and a combined 9-1 record in a Northeast Fencing Conference meet Saturday.

James Perry ’00 was named the University’s 20th Head Football Coach Monday afternoon. This appointment follows the Nov. 19 departure of former Head Coach Phil Estes, who led the team for 21 seasons, The Herald previously reported.

The Bears finished the meet with 992 points, just ahead of second-place Princeton’s 852 points. Women’s swimming and diving will return to action Jan. 12 for a meet against Ivy League rivals Penn and Harvard.

Coming off of a victory over Wagner College and a defeat against Rutgers University, the women’s swimming and diving team powered to a first-place finish in the Bruno Invite this weekend.

Tamenang Choh ’21 shot 75 percent from the field and averaged 12.5 points over two games against in-state rivals Salve Regina and Bryant.

While most students left campus for Thanksgiving break last week, the men’s basketball team went to work, defeating Bryant University and Salve Regina University.

Ryan Putnam ’21 makes a tackle against Penn in a 13-7 defeat Oct. 27. Linebacker Daniel Aidman ’19 led the Bears in tackles this season with 91, while defensive lineman Michael Hoecht ’20 led in sacks with 3.5.

More than two years ago, the football team walked off Memorial Field in Hanover, New Hampshire as winners following a 24-21 victory over Dartmouth. That was the last time that the Bears won an Ivy League football game.

The wrestling team put on an impressive performance at the Jonathan Kaloust Bearcat Open Sunday.

Jakob Prall ’20 races past the Columbia defense on a 90-yard touchdown run in the second quarter Saturday. The score put the Bears up 20-14, but Brown proved unable to score for the rest of the game.

The field hockey team traveled to Philadelphia last weekend, falling to Penn 1-0 and defeating Villanova University 3-1. Katie Hammaker ’19 starred in net for the Bears and recorded 14 saves in the loss and 13 in the victory.

Brown and Penn engaged in a defensive battle in a Nor’easter Saturday, as the Bears’ defense held the Quakers to a scoreless second half.
