The University’s first full summer term in recent history kicked off with the start of virtual classes May 12. Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, professors have had to adapt their courses and teaching techniques to online learning via Zoom.

Students, faculty and teaching assistants who wish to do so will have the option to continue learning remotely, despite in-person instruction.

Brown guidelines for Summer 2021 semester

With students returning to campus for the summer semester, the University maintains the importance of following public health guidelines. The summer term will enroll about 2,000 undergraduate students and two groups of pre-college summer program students in June and July.

The Just Food Committee was created in 2019 to assess University policies on food purchasing and the supply chains of food consumed on campus.

Members of the University’s administration and student body discussed changes for the upcoming summer and fall semesters, updates on the Food Access Initiative and the progress of the Brook Street dormitory project at the Brown University Community Council’s final meeting of the semester April 14.

Over the last two months, Myanmar has lost roughly 600 civilian lives to the ongoing unrest, including 40 children.

U. students studying in Myanmar amid a military coup discuss impact on daily life, learning

On Feb. 1, Myanmar citizens woke up with no Internet and their phone lines cut off. A military televised program later informed the public that Aung San Suu Kyi, Myanmar’s state counselor and civilian leader, had been detained and charged under counts of voter fraud in the recent November democratic elections.

Students celebrate their first on-campus Passover during COVID-19

With the start of Passover on Saturday night, students across campus have begun to celebrate the holiday with their individual pods, at in-person gatherings through Brown/RISD Hillel and on online Zooms.

The working group is a "step forward" in "accountability" for the University, Leinani Roylo '21 wrote — but "much more" work remains for the University to rectify previous harm.

Brown announces Land Acknowledgement Working Group

The University has formed a Land Acknowledgement Working Group, President Christina Paxson P’19 wrote in a March 11 letter to the Brown community. The new group will develop recommendations as to how the University should formally acknowledge the shared history of the institution and the local Indigenous Peoples.
