Football loses despite strong passing

Saturday was a career day for quarterback and co-captain Michael Dougherty ’09, who set an Ivy League game record by throwing for 526 yards on the day. But unfortunately for the Bears, that performance came in a loss for the football team, as Holy Cross’s offense overpowered Brown, 41-34.

Coming off its win over Harvard, the football team was brought down to earth with a 37-13 loss to URI on Saturday. Brown’s sloppy play contributed to the loss, with the Rams capitalizing on two interceptions, two fumble recoveries and a blocked punt that set up a touchdown near the end of the first half.

After cruising to a 17-7 win over non-conference opponent Stony Brook in the season opener last Saturday, the Bears know they will have to execute to perfection to open their Ivy League season with a victory in the Brown Homecoming game.

Raymond ’08 jets in NFL career

After one of the most successful careers in Brown football history, Paul Raymond ’08 got a taste of professional football this summer when he participated in training camp and preseason games with the New York Jets. After racking up a team-high 978 receiving yards in his senior season, including four touchdowns, Raymond went undrafted but was signed as a free agent by the Jets.

Soccer to host tournament this weekend
