Fencers ‘demolished’ the competition at NFC

With the threat of elimination no longer looming, the fencing team is focusing on posting strong results following a 13th-place finish at the NCAA Championships last year.
The men’s water polo team returned from Santa Clara, Calif., this weekend with a losing record after the Rodeo Invitational. But despite going 2-3 on the weekend, the team flew back with a positive attitude.
The men’s water polo team dominated Fordham and Mercyhurst last Saturday at Harvard, winning 18-7 and 12-6, respectively. Center Svetozar Stefanovic ’13 led the way in both games. He tallied seven goals, six steals and two assists against Fordham and managed six goals, five ejections drawn, a steal and a save in the Mercyhurst game.
The men’s tennis team won 30 of 35 matches at the Margaux Powers Memorial Tournament hosted by Brown last weekend, finishing with a 20-2 overall record in singles action and a 10-3 overall record in doubles action.
Julie Flanzer ’12 led the No. 52 women’s tennis team with a 5-1 record at its first competition last weekend. The Bears hosted the Brown Invitational — an exhibition to start off the season and wipe away the rust that accumulated over the summer.
After finishing fourth in the Ivy League last year, the women’s tennis team is ready to redeem itself this season.
