Former Managing Editor of Daily Content

Kate is the former managing editor of daily content at The Herald, where she organized staff trainings, developed multimedia features, and oversaw production of the daily newspaper. A senior at Brown, she is majoring in urban studies but will pursue a career in journalism. Kate hails from Minneapolis, Minnesota, where she enjoys sailing in holes cut out of the still-frozen lake in the spring. Outside the newsroom, Kate has been known to frequent dance parties and doughnut shops.

St. Vincent extended her Digital Witness tour, which included a stop at Lupo’s Heartbreak Hotel Sunday night, into this summer. She received her first Grammy nomination for Best Alternative Music Album in December 2014 for her eponymous album St. Vincent, and she demonstrated her lyrical genius during her performance in Providence.

Under the compost initiative, more dining items are compostable and there are new compost bins. For the first two weeks of the initiative, student volunteers will monitor bins to help students sort their waste.

As a fellow for the nonprofit Mercy for Animals, Lauren Pierce ’15 promotes environmental, ethical and dietary reasons to support animal rights. She is currently campaigning for Brown to adopt a meat-free menu on Mondays.
