This whole NFL season has felt a bit empty to me. Don’t get me wrong — it’s been incredibly entertaining and I’ve loved every minute of it. The problem is that I know how I’m going to feel about this season in a couple of months.

We are over a 100 games into the NFL season, and I’m convinced it’s the strangest one I’ve ever seen. On the one hand, you have the Philadelphia Eagles, who are pre-season favorites and loaded with talent. Despite having one of the best running backs, one of the most feared quarterbacks and what should be one of the strongest secondaries in football, they find themselves one loss away from being effectively eliminated from the playoffs. On the other hand, a Cincinnati Bengals team that seemed poised for an epic implosion finds itself rubbing elbows with the AFC’s elite and are likely to battle the New York Jets for the final wild card spot into the playoffs.

(Note to the reader: Sports columnist Sam Sheehan ’12 consumed 17 Diet Dr. Peppers last Tuesday before locking himself in his room and not emerging until the following morning. He awoke to find several emails in his inbox asking him topical sports questions. After tracing the emails, we found that he not only wrote them himself, but he also ordered 15 more cases of Diet Dr. Pepper. He apparently does not remember writing the emails, though he answered all of them.)
