$5.4 million in aid issued to Rhode Island to combat COVID-19

In an effort to help reduce the spread of COVID-19, Rhode Island is receiving $4.9 million in supplemental aid as part of an $8.3 billion spending package issued by the Trump Administration, which comes in addition to a $500,000 grant from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Three University students test negative for COVID-19

All three Brown students who were tested for COVID-19 earlier this week tested negative, according to a community-wide email sent Wednesday morning from Division of Campus Life officials. 

At the Brown University Community Council meeting March 10, President Christina Paxson P’19 discussed campus preparations in response to COVID-19, campus sustainability plans and the BrownTogether campaign.

Three University students are currently being tested for novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19), according to an email sent by Vice President for Campus Life Eric Estes and Executive Director of Health and Wellness Vanessa Britto to students and faculty Monday.

Although ADOCH has been modified for weather-related reasons in the past, this year’s cancellation will mark the first time “in recent memory” an incoming class will not have an official admitted students event, according to Dean of Admission Logan Powell.

RISD canceled its study abroad program in Rome, while the University canceled its “Brown in Bologna” program due to coronavirus fears.

Brown Professor tests negative for COVID-19

Onésimo Almeida MA’77 PhD’80 P’06, professor of Portuguese and Brazilian Studies, tested negative for COVID-19 coronavirus, after fears of exposure following a trip to Portugal during which he interacted with people who were diagnosed with COVID-19. The professor did test positive for the flu.
