About 40 members of the College Hill Neighborhood Association turned out to discuss city and neighborhood issues with Providence Mayor David Cicilline ’83 at Moses Brown School last night.

A crowd of nearly 200 people gathered in the State House rotunda Thursday afternoon, calling for legislators to use federal stimulus money to help those who have lost their homes due to foreclosure, eviction or job loss. The rally was organized by 10 groups, including non-profit organizations such as the Rhode Island Coalition for the Homeless and Housing Opportunities for People Everywhere, a student organization at Brown that works with the homeless community.

As the economy continues to unravel, shop owners on the East Side have been forced to dramatically alter their business strategies to stay afloat.

Students who are at least 18 years of age and registered to vote in Rhode Island are eligible to vote in today’s general election. Voters must have registered in Rhode Island by Oct. 4 to cast ballots for U.S. Senate, U.S. House of Representatives and local races.
