Last Friday’s trip to the Bronx for the 2009 Ivy League Heptagonal Championship brought mixed emotions for the men’s and women’s cross-country squads. Both teams had great individual successes, but the day was bittersweet, as each finished in fifth place overall. Columbia took the men’s title, while Princeton claimed first for the women.

Equestrian extends lead over regional competition

A 13-hour show last weekend left the equestrian riders little time for trick or treating. However, coming home with a “sweet” first-place title, the Bears had all the treats they could ask for.Connecticut College presented just another opportunity for Bruno to show why they are the dominant team in the region this year.

Quakers shake m. soccer out of top 25

The men’s soccer team (8-2-5, 3-2-0 Ivy) dropped out of the top 25 after a disappointing 1-0 loss to Penn (6-6-3, 2-2-1 Ivy) Sunday afternoon at Stevenson Field. Despite outshooting the Quakers 24-12, the Bears could not overcome an early score in the opening 15 minutes of play.

M. tennis ends fall season with well-played tournament

Four men from the tennis team competed at the Harvard Halloween Tournament this past weekend. Andrew Yazmer ’12, Jimmy Crystal ’12, Luciano Musella ’13 and Miles Garrigues ’13 all played in both singles and doubles against players from six other schools.

The volleyball team saw disappointing results this weekend, falling to Princeton, 3-0, on Friday night and to Penn, 3-1, the following afternoon. With the losses, Brown drops to 5-15 overall this season and 1-8 in the Ivy League.

Men’s water polo on the up and up with victory over MIT

As the Northern Division Championships swiftly approach, men’s water polo appears to be playing stronger than ever. In their recent game against MIT on Sunday, the Bears edged out the Engineers, 14-12.

Field hockey loses season’s penultimate game

The field hockey team fell to Penn, 4-0, on Saturday in its penultimate game of the season. The Bears held the Quakers scoreless for 49 minutes before the floodgates opened.
