Brown Derbies earn spot in 2020 Best of College A Cappella album

For the first time in 20 years, a University a cappella group is featured on the 2020 Best of College A Cappella album, a juried selection of student-adapted songs chosen by industry professionals.

The Ursa Minors, pictured above, were one of ten groups to perform on Thursday night in support of Community MusicWorks. The organization was founded in 1997 by Sebastian Ruth ’97 with funding from the Swearer Center. The “10:10” concert was the first time a student group has held an event to benefit the organization.

Ten a capella groups came together Thursday night in support of local music education organization, Community MusicWorks, for the “10:10” a capella concert held in the Friedman Auditorium of Metcalf Research Building.

The Jabberwocks, founded in 1949, are the University’s oldest a cappella group. The group hopes to increase inclusivity through measures like making the audition process gender inclusive and adjusting its uniform.
