’21 Rising study investigates social networks, alcohol use for class of 2021

’21 Rising, an ongoing social network study led by Principal Investigator and Professor of Behavioral and Social Sciences Nancy Barnett, enrolls members from the class of 2021 in biannual surveys to find out how social networks play a role in their health behaviors.

A $12.5 million NIH grant will fund a new research center studying the links between substance abuse and chronic illness as part of the Center of Alcohol and Addiction Studies. Researchers will study abuse of alcohol, marijuana, opiods and smoking.
