Drabinski resigns as baseball head coach

Marek Drabinski, head coach of the baseball team for the past 18 years, resigned Friday, effective immediately.

Despite the sudden resignation of Head Coach Marek Drabinski, the baseball team had its best weekend of the season, defeating Harvard twice.

Anthony Galan ’14 surrendered just three runs and struck out six against the Tigers Saturday. The Bears were unable to generate enough offensive pressure to outdo Princeton in either of the teams’ two games.

The baseball team’s intraconference struggles continued this weekend, as it fell twice to both Princeton 3-2 and 10-6, and Cornell 4-1 and 6-5.

After experiencing an offensive power outage against Ivy foes Columbia and Penn, the Bruno bats surged in the Bears’ home opener against Siena, outscoring the Saints 14-7 and 4-3 in the Thursday doubleheader.

The baseball team will travel to Fairfax, Va., this weekend to attempt to garner its first win of the season against George Mason University.

Outfielder Daniel Massey ’14 slides into a base headfirst. Massey was the only Bear to register a hit in each of Brown’s three games and the only one to get a hit that was not a single, going 3-for-9 with two doubles.

In its regular-season opener, the men’s baseball team failed to score a run in three losses against the top-ranked University of South Carolina Gamecocks.
