At around 12 p.m. EST Thursday, Jacob Good ’22, a member of the squash team, received an email from the Athletics Department inviting him and all student-athletes to an unanticipated Zoom call later that afternoon. An hour later, Good and his fellow teammates were no longer members of a varsity team.

The University will transition 11 varsity teams — men and women’s fencing, men and women’s golf, women’s skiing, men and women’s squash, women’s equestrian and men’s track, field and cross country — to club status, effective immediately, according to a community-wide email sent today from President Christina Paxson.

The Herald’s recent article about Women’s Basketball Head Coach Sarah Behn, titled “Brown University Band will not perform at women’s basketball games in protest of Head Coach,” was quite disheartening.

Ricky Cabanillas ’23 defeated Matt Swanson of Binghamton and  Matt Kolonia of Bucknell to guarantee a top-eight placement.

The wrestling team was led by Ricky Cabanillas ’23 at the Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association Championships, who placed seventh at 149 lbs.

Lewis leaped to eighth in the NCAA rankings and won the triple jump in the 2020 Ivy League Heptagonal Indoor Championships.

The Feb. 24 Brown Daily Herald article announcing that the Brown Band will not perform at women’s basketball games to protest the head coach was chilling. Citing and reporting “allegations circulating” and “things we were hearing,” the band and The BDH threatened the career of a well-respected coach and educator.

Bastianelli has fought to a 17-11 record this season, which includes three pins and three technical falls.
