Brown men’s basketball beats Columbia, loses to Cornell over weekend

Every minute mattered as Bruno entered its weekend games at Columbia and Cornell in an effort to sweep the New York teams and solidify its chances at an Ivy League tournament appearance and an NCAA tournament bid.

Following this weekend’s contests against Colgate and Cornell, the men’s hockey team will close out the regular season with visits to Quinnipiac and Princeton Saturday.

Following a road trip to Dartmouth and Harvard last week, the men’s hockey team closed out its regular season home slate this weekend, defeating Colgate University 3-1 Friday and falling to No. 2 Cornell 3-0 Saturday.

The Bears grabbed their first two wins in the Ivy League competition, increasing their chances of qualifying for the postseason. They won against Cornell 74-63 Friday and beat Columbia Saturday 72-66.

The men’s basketball team entered the weekend knowing the reality of its situation — the Bears risked dropping to 0-4 in league play with two losses, which would make an Ivy League tournament appearance that much harder.
