The vegetarian eatery on campus opened its doors to students Sept 13, serving vegen and vegetarian options that are modified since it last operated before the pandemic.

The Ivy Room briefly reopens for in-person dining

The Ivy room was originally slated to open between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. for lunch and between 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. for dinner, before closing for in-person dining along with all other campus eateries, in response to an increase in positive asymptomatic tests, The Herald previously reported. 

Following months of closure to the student body, the July 23 reopening of the Blue Room elicited much excitement among students and staff.

College dining halls don’t often make the news. However, as this semester commenced, a nickname controversy catapulted the Sharpe Refectory into the headlines.

After a period of student activism and a feasibility study conducted by the University , $3 million in infrastructure renovations at the Ratty are already under way with plans to have the project completed by summer 2019.

The University announced a $3 million investment to install air conditioning throughout the Sharpe Refectory Sept. 28. After year-long efforts to secure A/C in the University’s largest dining hall, students and dining services employees are now turning their attention to claims of understaffing at the Ratty.
