Three pieces of breaded chicken from the V-Dub Dining Hall on Chicken Finger Friday packs in 430 calories.

Compost bins placed in Andrews Commons last year increased rates of recycling and decreased the amount of waste going into landfills when the containment rate remained below 25 percent.

Andrews Commons composting program sees uncertain future

The University has discontinued the composting program in Andrews Commons following the end of the pilot program last semester.

As a fellow for the nonprofit Mercy for Animals, Lauren Pierce ’15 promotes environmental, ethical and dietary reasons to support animal rights. She is currently campaigning for Brown to adopt a meat-free menu on Mondays.

Brown Dining Services workers and their union reached an agreement on a new contract with the University in late December.

The new Andrews Commons on Pembroke Campus features a variety of cuisines, private study rooms and a large, comfortable dining area. Options include stir-frys, pizzas and soda from a touch screen vending machine.
