Four women-owned small businesses based in Providence

While there has been a significant increase in the number of women-owned businesses across the nation, recent studies still show that women are underrepresented in the field of entrepreneurship: Only 17 percent of startups in the United States have a female founder.

Thomas Dickerson’s GS startup Geopipe, which creates virtual models of the real world, was created in collaboration with Christopher Mitchell, an adjunct professor of computer science at New York University.

University startup awarded first place at SXSW competition

Thomas Dickerson GS led his startup, Geopipe, to take first place at the Student Startup Madness competition in the SXSW Interactive conference in Austin, Texas, March 12.

Summer B-Lab concluded with a presentation of student ventures. Not all projects succeeded, but students appreciated the research opportunities.
