Recently, Rutgers University announced that, religious and medical exemptions aside, it will require students to be vaccinated against COVID-19 before returning to campus in the fall. Even with the end of the pandemic in sight, Rutgers has not taken for granted that its health situation on campus will get better. […]

Students will be able to apply to study remotely “should circumstances warrant it,” according to the announcement.

Of the sophomores, juniors and seniors enrolled in classes this semester, only 23 percent are living on campus, while 44.2 percent are living off campus or commuting. Another 32.8 percent are studying remotely, according to data provided to The Herald by Dean of the College Rashid Zia ’01.

The University will decrease some student fees for the Fall 2020 semester, according to an Aug. 12 email from Student Financial Services. Student Financial Services stated in their email that these decisions were motivated by the University’s decision to postpone the planned arrival of students until late September.
