Gilbane Development Corporation has proposed the construction of a four-story luxury apartment complex on Thayer Street between Meeting Street and Euclid Avenue.

The Corporation approved plans to undergo a $56 million renovation of campus housing, creating clustered first-year and sophomore communities.

She had known for months the inn would be closing, but Jeanne Medeiros was still surprised by the error message when she tried to visit its website — especially since, at that point, the Saunders Inn at Brown was still in business.

According to The Herald's poll, 70 percent of students are or were satisfied with their roommate. Natalie Basil, associate director of ResLife, said the student-pairing system focuses heavily on differing sleep schedules.

From athletes to mathletes, each year the Office of Residential Life matches up a fresh batch of first years as best it can — with overwhelmingly positive results, according to the The Herald’s poll this semester. About 70 percent of students are or were satisfied with their assigned freshman roommate, with 47.9 percent stating they were very satisfied.
