Rhode Island’s March for Racial Justice, one of the 18 marches that took place across the nation, kicked off at India Point Park Sunday afternoon.

J. Timmons Roberts, professor of environmental studies and sociology, asked members of RISCC to spearhead the movement in Rhode Island in the hopes that Rhode Island could be the final state to hold the march.

The R.I. Student Climate Coalition will host a march at the Rhode Island State House as hundreds gather for the People’s Climate Movement in Washington.

Similar to other marches nationwide, over 1,500 Rhode Islanders gathered at the State House Saturday to advocate for scientific research and funding.
