Pollard ’21: It’s time to talk about student-faculty online interactions

The University has implemented a myriad of new policies to address necessary changes for operating safely during the pandemic, but no adjustments have been made to address the issue of misconduct online, especially as it exists across professional power divides.

While CS TA Nick Young ’23 noted that high enrollment this semester has sometimes made his job challenging, the workload is overall manageable and he is finding ways to adapt to the remote semester.

CS professors, students plan for online instruction

In early spring, before COVID-19 had officially been deemed a pandemic and the semester moved online, the University’s Department of Computer Science was one of the first to begin moving its operations online.

During a Tuesday faculty meeting, President Paxson stressed that the University must be prepared for the campus to either reopen all residential halls in the fall, operate completely online or for a hybrid of the two.
