The pressure was at its breaking point for women’s squash player Erika Kohnen ’12 in the final match to decide the Kurtz Cup. Put in this do-or-die situation, Kohnen pulled off the win, despite her match lasting five grueling games.   At the B Division Women’s National Team Championship this past weekend in Boston, the women’s squash team defeated Williams 5-4 to claim the Kurtz Cup. With the victory, the squad is now ranked ninth overall in women’s collegiate squash. The team defeated Mount Holyoke 8-1 and Bates 5-4 to meet Williams in the final, a rematch of last year’s division showdown.

Both squash teams took on top-10 ranked opponents this weekend. The women lost 8-1 to No. 8 Dartmouth in the last home game of the season. Meanwhile, the No. 16 men defeated No. 26 Tufts with a resounding 9-0 victory, but fell 9-0 to No. 4 Harvard and 8-1 to No. 7 Dartmouth.
