Thayer Street restaurant Durk’s Bar-B-Q closed its doors on Dec. 22, marking the end of the establishment’s three-year run on College Hill.

Ceremony tea shop opened on Thayer Street Dec. 13th. It is owned by Michelle Cheng, who also owns Leafy Green tea company.

Lois Hollingsworth owned Zuzu’s Petals, a dress boutique on Thayer Street, for 24 years. But in 2015, she chose to shutter her store because of what she described as a drastic change in Thayer’s character.

In an effort to bring more art to Thayer Street, The Wheeler School is working with Thayer Street District Management Authority to create a series of murals along the street.

Rev’d plans to incentivize student membership by offering discount packages to University students, which will be announced soon.

Rev’d Cycling studio to open on Thayer St

Thayer Street will become home to the Ocean State’s first Rev’d Indoor Cycling spin studio by the end of this year. The studio will occupy the space above Berks Shoes and Clothing, which was filled by Shanghai Restaurant until early 2018.

Shiru Cafe opened in February 2018, appealing to students with free wifi, drinks and access to a study space. The cafe, popular with students on campus,  will close its doors Friday, September 27.
