The University accepted 9.6 percent of applicants to the incoming class of 2016, resulting in the third-lowest admittance rate in Brown’s history. A total of 2,760 out of 28,742 applicants – which includes both those who applied early and regular decision – were offered places in the class of 2016, according to a University press release.

As apps rise, alumni interviewers weigh options

Despite the 50 percent increase in applications to Brown over the past five years, the Brown Alumni Schools Committee has still been able to arrange interviews for most first-year applicants, said Todd Andrews ’83, vice president for alumni relations. The continued success has been due in part to an increase in the number of alumni volunteers and the number of applicants they each interview.

Applications fall slightly, despite larger international pool

Total applications to the University decreased slightly from last year, with international applicants making up a record 16 percent of the applicant pool. The 28,671 total applications for the class of 2016 — 25,744 regular decision and 2,927 early decision — represented a 7 percent decline following a record-setting year in which the University received the largest number of applications in its history.
