Diamonds and coal

A diamond to the impressive Brunonians who are appearing on the History Channel's "Deep Sea Detectives" series this week. A diamond also to North Carolina, the focus of their episode - raise up. But coal to Morning Mail's suggestion that students on campus tune in - for anyone who lives on campus, that's impossible. We only get SCOLA.

Coal to the Centers for Disease Control's suggestion that we compensate for not getting a flu shot by sneezing into our sleeves. Gross!

We would give a diamond to Jacques Derrida, who died this week, but it would just be meaningless. After all, there is nothing outside of the Text.

Coal to competition - everyone from politicians to baseball fans to Middle Easterners seems to be involved in some kind of struggle. Why can't we all just get along?

A diamond to chickens. They are smart and tasty. A bigger diamond to Kansas chickens. Also, chicken to diamonds in the rough.

Coal to risk and uncertainty. But a diamond to the professor who helped us make sense of them.

A brave diamond to National Coming Out Week. But coal to Vice Lady Lynne Cheney for apparently not getting the message. We learned about gay pride by reading "Sisters," Cheney's 1981 lesbian romance novel, but it seems she scrapped the sequel, "Daughters." Shame on her.

Coal to information technology, for threatening to bring Brown into the 21st century and to undermine the University's principles of chaos and lawlessness. Prerequisites are for Princetonians.

A diamond to the ninth month of 1425. Here's to getting dates for 30 straight days.
