Sakura -- 231 Wickenden St.; 331.6861

It remains a mystery that so many Japanese restaurants congregate on Wickenden Street, and it may be tempting for a hungry sushi-lover to stop at the first one he or she walks by. But take those extra steps. Leave Tokyo behind, and travel on to Sakura.

The value for one meal at Sakura, which is Japanese for "cherry blossoms," is almost shocking. A full dinner for between $10 and $12 includes a soup, salad, appetizer, entrée and dessert - a bowl of miso soup, the house salad, gyoza (fried pork dumplings), ton katsu (breaded pork with a vegetable and fruit sauce) and coconut ice cream, for example. It's more food than any appetite could ask for, and for a price everyone will be willing to pay.

Sakura's sushi selection is very agreeable, with many choices for those averse to finding an uncooked Nemo. Vegetarian diners also have options - the yam maki rolls come highly recommended.

The décor of Sakura is simple yet welcoming, and patrons can either sit in chairs at a table or remove their shoes and dine on the floor.
