The women's tennis team continued its fall campaign this weekend at the U.S. Tennis Center Invitational in Flushing, N.Y. Finkelstein made it to the semifinals of the D2 singles flight before falling to Boston College junior Lindsey Nash.

In other action, Daisy Ames '07 won her first match in B1 singles 6-3, 6-4 but was narrowly defeated 6-4, 4-6, 10-8 in the quarterfinals.

Amanda Saiontz '07 also advanced past the first round in B2 singles with a 6-4, 4-6, 10-6 victory. She too fell in the quarterfinals, 6-3, 6-2.

The other two Brown players to advance were Ashley Pariser '08 and Sara Mansur '09. Pariser, competing in C1 singles, advanced to the quarterfinals with a 6-1, 6-4 showing. Mansur had a slightly tougher time in the D1 singles flight, advancing after a 7-5, 6-2 victory. Mansur fell after a solid effort in the quarterfinals, dropping a tough 1-6, 7-5, 11-9 match. Pariser, meanwhile, did not continue and defaulted her next match.

The only other singles win for Brown came in the consolation round of the C2 flight, where Michelle Pautler '07 scored a 6-3, 6-4 victory.

The doubles play was even more challenging, as the Bears only took one match, a 8-6 victory in the consolation round of B2 doubles by Alexa Baggio '09 and Meredith Woodhouse '08.

The Bears return to action Oct. 21-24 at the ITA Regional Championship at West Point, N.Y.
