After weeks of speculation that he might be leaving Brown, men's basketball coach Glen Miller is reportedly going to be named the new head coach at the University of Pennsylvania tomorrow. Penn has called a press conference for Wednesday afternoon at 2 p.m. Miller will replace departing Quakers coach Fran Dunphy, who was named the new head coach at Temple University earlier this month.
In his seven years leading the Bears, Miller compiled a 54-44 record in the Ivy League (93-99 overall) and guided them to three second-place finishes in the league in four years from 2001-2004.
Penn has won the Ivy title the past two years and earned the Ancient Eight's automatic NCAA Tournament berth. According to Kevin McNamara's online blog, Miller was chosen over two other finalists for the job: Steve Donahue, the head coach at Cornell, and Billy Taylor, the head coach at Lehigh University. Both men had ties to Penn.
