Brown Daily Herald debuts revamped new website

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — The Brown Daily Herald, one of the oldest college newspapers in the country, unveiled its newly redesigned website Wednesday, Jan. 23.

“With this update, The Herald is making its mark on the world of digital news,” said Shefali Luthra, Editor-in-Chief and President of The Brown Daily Herald, Inc. and a member of the Brown class of 2014. “The new website allows us to showcase articles through a compelling and reader-friendly presentation so Brown community members can get the most out of our coverage.”

The website uses responsive web design, allowing readers to easily read articles from computers, smart phones or tablets. The user-friendly interface has a clean look and feel that showcases The Herald’s growing emphasis on multimedia storytelling.

An enhanced search function allows readers to quickly access The Herald’s full catalog of digital content, including archives extending back to 2004. New author and topic pages group stories based on writer and subject, respectively. With these pages, readers can quickly review complex, storied features of the university’s history.

“The greatest thing a newspaper can offer is easy, unlimited access to its current and past coverage. We’re thrilled with the improvements to our web presence,” said Editor-in-Chief and Vice President Lucy Feldman, a member of Brown’s class of 2014.

Users who received The Herald’s previous email edition are required to renew their subscriptions to continue receiving the online newsletter.

The Herald was founded in 1866 and has run daily since 1891. In addition to The Brown Daily Herald, The Herald also publishes a weekly arts and culture supplement, Post- Magazine, and a blog, BlogDailyHerald.
