The Wrens to play Brown for fall concert

Indie-rock band The Wrens will play Nov. 18 in Sayles Hall for a Fall Concert sponsored by the Brown Concert Agency. Last year's Fall Concert act was The Graham Colton Band.

"We're really excited about The Wrens because they're great and put on such an energetic performance," said Joe Posner '07, BCA chair.

The New Jersey-based Wrens' pop-accented style, which has evolved over their 16 years together, will appeal to a wide audience, said BCA President Elizabeth Trongone '06. "I've talked to people who've been to their concert, and they said there's everyone from frat boys to old men there, like Bob Dylan."

Tickets will be inexpensive, and Brown-based band Get Him Eat Him, which toured with The Wrens this summer, will open at The Wrens' request, Trontone said.

BCA's larger budget for fall events this year enabled them to get a more expensive group, and still have money left over for cosponsoring other concerts this semester, she said.

"It's really cool that we could get them to come," Posner said. "It will hopefully be a really good time."

The Fall Concert is separate from the Fall Festival weekend, an event being planned by the reconstituted Student Union.
