Gibbs '01 named to World Cup roster

Cory Gibbs '01 was named to the U.S. National Team's World Cup roster on Tuesday evening. Gibbs will make his World Cup debut on June 12, when the Americans take on the Czech Republic in Gelsenkirchen, Germany.

In recent years, Gibbs has been a frequent contributor to the National Team. He has received significant playing time on the backline during the 2006 World Cup qualifying matches, recording six caps between 2004 and 2005 to help the team make it to Germany. Finally healthy after battling injuries last season, Gibbs has been playing professionally in Holland for the past two years.

During his time at Brown, Gibbs led the Bears to an Ivy League championship as a senior in 2000 and earned Ivy Player of the Year honors for his effort. With Gibbs, the Bears advanced to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament that season. More details to follow.
